Frequently Asked Questions
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is generally considered safe when conducted by a trained and certified professional. It is a collaborative and non-invasive process.
How long does a typical session last?
Session lengths can vary but typically last around 50 minutes for both hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed depends on the individual and the specific issue being addressed. Some concerns may require only a few sessions, while others may need longer-term treatment.
Is what I say during therapy confidential?
All information shared during our therapy sessions is treated with the utmost confidentiality from our very first interaction.
I operate in accordance with the ethical standards set by the UKCP. Part of these standards involves periodic supervision with an accredited supervisor. This ensures that I can provide you with the best possible care. During these supervisory discussions, your identity will remain strictly confidential.
However, it’s crucial to be aware of specific situations where confidentiality may need to be breached. These include:
-
If I become aware of, or have reasonable suspicion that you possess information related to:
- A past or future incident or situation that poses a potential danger to a child, yourself, or another adult, and this information is unknown to the relevant authorities.
-
Any past or future criminal activity that remains unresolved in the eyes of the law. This includes any criminal activities of which the relevant authorities are either unaware or any cases they have open but not closed (unless the information you share in therapy would reasonably reopen the case). This, however, excludes minor infractions such as parking or traffic violations, unless there is clear intent to cause harm to yourself or others, or it qualifies as a “serious offense.” For our purposes, a “serious offense” refers to actions that may result in imprisonment, and for which the sentence (not necessarily imprisonment) has not yet been served.
In such situations, my approach is to collaborate with you to explore the possibility of making appropriate disclosures.
Furthermore, it’s essential to note that I am obligated to report any instances related to terrorism, potential radicalization, money laundering, and female genital mutilation to the relevant authorities as required by law.
What is your cancellation policy?
I operate a 48-hour in advance cancellation policy. You will be charged the full amount for the session if appropriate notice has not been given
Do these therapies work for everyone?
The effectiveness of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy can vary from person to person. Success often depends on individual factors and the specific issue being addressed.
